Q- What are the differences between the different vinyl siding thicknesses?
A- Vinyl siding comes in a wide range of thicknesses – from roughly .035” to .052” thick. Siding that is thinner is generally less durable, doesn’t last as long, and is the cheaper option. The thinnest vinyl siding that is typically used is called “builder’s grade” siding and it’s .040” thick.
Q- How thick should the vinyl siding on my home be?
A- We recommend using vinyl siding that is between .042” and .044” thick on residential homes. Older homes should use a higher grade siding to help hide any issues from settling and shifting.

A- Insulated siding’s durability is very similar to vinyl siding’s durability. It is designed to withstand harsh weather and requires little to no maintenance. Since it has rigid foam insulation, insulated siding is stronger than regular vinyl siding because it can’t bend as easily with the insulation keeping it intact.
