As one of only three government-sponsored “Greenbelt Communities” in the U.S., Greendale was built during the Great Depression as part of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal. Its unique planned layout with charming cottages and abundant green spaces was designed to look like an English Garden village, bringing a touch of Old World flair to Wisconsin.

Today, the Village of Greendale boasts a population close to 15,000. Most of the “Greendale Original” Colonial Williamsburg-style homes are still standing — a sense of pride for their owners, who depend on regular maintenance to keep them looking great.
